Operational
Design and Implementation:
Since the development
of the first curbside collection program and the first Material
Recovery Facility in North America, RDC has consulted extensively
in both collection and processing operations, as well as in the
development of markets and the selection of contractors. Projects
have ranged from collection and processing system design, to development
of operations tenders, to market analysis and development. Recent
examples are as follows:
Parallel Products
Upon identification of extreme technical difficulties in
processing material, principals of RDC Group were retained to
design and implement both an administrative and technical overhaul
of the processing and distillation facility. Work to date has
included logistics planning, development and implementation of
reporting procedures, and development and implementation of administrative
procedures (2000-2001).
County of Simcoe,
and the City of Orillia
Following upon the Joint Waste Diversion Strategy Study, principals
of RDC Group were retained to provide technical services during
their preparation of Request for Proposals for an integrated waste
management facility. Tasks included the development of and evaluation
of responses to a Request for Expressions of Interest, as well
as the development of and evaluation of responses to a Request
for Proposals (1999-2000).
Solid Waste Management
Authority
This Puerto Rican governmental organization retained principals
of RDC Group to develop and evaluate Request for Proposals for
both a glass recycling facility as well as four new material recovery
facilities. Additional technical support work, required as a result
of the bidding process, was also provided under this contract
(1998-1999).
Xerox Corporation
During the development of a recycling program for a new product
line, principals of RDC Group researched and identified potential
markets for each of the materials included in the new product
line (1998-1999).
Pronatura
Since 1995, RDC
Group has been working in Puerto Rico to develop an Island-wide
recycling system on the behalf of El Nuevo Dia, the largest daily
newspaper. Following completion of a feasibility analysis, it
was agreed that a new firm - Pronatura - should be created, partly
to operate a new and modern Material Recycling Facility (MRF).
Support work for this company has included design of the processing
facility, training of Operations Manager, provision of "debugging"
services, design of collection systems, design of program education
and promotion campaign, and establishment of co-operative supply
arrangements with community-based operators as well as municipal
and private collections was undergone. More recently, Pronatura
has retained principals of RDC Group to design an expansion program
and provide additional technical and new employee training services.
